Brand Spankin' New Theatre Launches in Nashville, TN

Nashville, TN – June 2024 – Brand Spankin' New Theatre (BSN Theatre) has officially launched, dedicated to developing innovative theatrical works and supporting playwrights through its unique Residency Program. Founded by seasoned Nashville playwright Robert Coles, BSN Theatre aims to nurture creativity and bring fresh perspectives to the stage.

Mission and Vision
BSN Theatre’s mission is to cultivate new theatrical works and offer playwrights the opportunity to finalize their scripts in a supportive environment. The BSN Theatre Residency Program invites playwrights to Nashville for up to 10 days, providing lodging and a stipend. This immersive experience culminates in a staged reading by professional Nashville actors, fostering artistic growth and community engagement.

About the Founder
Robert Coles, with over 20 years in the theatre industry as an actor, director, and producer, has recently focused on playwriting. His upcoming play, Lithium & Xanax & All of My Friends, will be BSN Theatre's inaugural production, premiering October 4, 2024, at the Darkhorse Theatre. Directed by Bradley Moore, the play explores themes of mental health, relationships, and self-discovery.

Focus and Upcoming Productions
BSN Theatre will primarily focus on plays, with potential for new musical works. "We'll be nurturing the creativity of new playwrights," says Robert Coles. "Our interests lie in works that address mental health, minority voices, the LGBTQ+ community, political activism, and cultural events."

The first production, Lithium & Xanax & All of My Friends, tells the story of Adam, who confronts his demons and relationships in a poignant exploration of sexuality and mental health. This production is not suitable for young audiences due to adult language.
